Vaccinations
Your pup will have received its first set of vaccinations and deworming( at 6-7 weeks of age) before coming home to you. You will need to talk with your veterinarian at initial visit to discuss the best vaccination schedule for you pup and your area! Most will recommend 3-4 sets of vaccinations/de-worming 3 weeks apart followed by rabies around 5-6 months. Also note that socializing your pup between the age of 8 and 12 weeks is VERY important and your pup should be exposed to new things, new people, and new places every day during this prime time!!! Just do this in a safe way. Get creative. Keep the pup in a shopping cart, stroller, in your arms, or otherwise away from contamination that can cause parvo exposure!! Also see page on Socialization ideas!!!
Here is a bit more info on vaccinations....PLEASE READ the link below so you understand the risk to your pup and how to avoid exposure!https://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/19_10/features/Puppy-Vaccines_21531-1.html
Health Guarantee
We want to make certain your family is getting a healthy puppy! We guarantee your pups health at time of purchase. It is important to schedule a visit with your vet within the first 3 days of having your puppy for this guarantee. If any health issues are found within the first 3 days, you may choose to return the pup for a full refund. All transport costs covered by the Buyer. If you choose to keep the puppy and treat yourself, you are responsible for all veterinary expenses. We cannot guarantee the pups health after the first 3 days as we have no control over the environment, food, exercise, and chemical/bacterial exposure of the pup once it has left our farm. There will be no refund given after the first 3 days.
One exception to this is umbilical cord hernia. This is very common in puppies and can "retract" and go unnoticed during the pups initial vet exams at birth, 6, and 8 weeks of age. Most will fix themselves by 12 weeks. If repair is needed, the best time is at the time of spay or neuter. We are happy to discount that pup by $100. Just a simple email from your vet stating the procedure has been preformed. If our Veterinarian finds a hernia before the pup leaves our farm, the family will be notified and the pup discounted $100.
Giardiasis and Coccidiosis
These parasites are very commonly found in healthy dogs with no symptoms. Unless your puppy is having very loose or liquid stools, I would NOT treat for these parasites. Many Veterinarians jump to prescribe antibiotics when a positive result on fecal exam is found at first vet exam. The latest veterinary literature shows this is a mistake unless the dog is having symptoms. Your puppy has just gone through much stress and transition. This is the prime environment for a "parasite bloom". A great probiotic powder on the food will go a long way in helping their little immune systems control these parasites on their own and set them up for stronger immune systems long term. Antibiotics at a young age should be avoided if possible to protect little young pups system. If the pup IS having symptoms, you may choose to treat at that time.
The Breeder guarantees for one full year (until the dogs first birthday) that this dog will remain functionally sound. If this dog is found to have a crippling congenital or hereditary defect within one full year from the date of birth, the Breeder agrees to replace the dog with another dog upon receipt of a certificate of euthanasia dated within one year from the dogs date of birth. The seller must be notified before any decision is made for the dog to be euthanized in order for this agreement to be valid. The purchaser is responsible for the expense of all veterinary care while the dog is in the Purchaser's possession.
Dysplasia
The Breeder guarantees the puppy against severe elbow or hip dysplasia until 12-months of age. As Dysplasia is multi-factorial and can be caused my a combination of genetic, nutritional, and environmental factors, it is not possible to guarantee against all dysplasia. Our guarantee covering genetic dysplasia does not include any condition of which the puppy has suffered injury, infection, abuse, trauma, or poor care/nutritional issues. Dog must be maintained at a proper weight defined as easily palpable ribs. All joint issues/claims must have a final OFA diagnosis provided by the puppy Buyer at their cost, with on OFA rating of severe(genetic only; accident or environmental dysplasia is excluded and must be ruled out by both Buyer and Breeder's veterinarians in order for claim to be valid). While no large breed (regardless of bloodlines) is without risk, we have carefully built our breeding program from selected health tested bloodlines. This guarantee is void if the dog has been spayed or neutered before the age of 9 months.
